Valentina worked for our family 5 full days per week helping taking care of our child from the age of about 9 months until 2 years. We live in Norway. We felt like Valentina was a part of our family from day 1. She has a very warm, positive, and friendly nature making both parents and children very comfortable around her. Valentina is very talented with children, she is interactive and creative and it is very clear she very much enjoys playing with kids, she is extremely loyal and trustworthy, asks for advice when needed, she always made yummy and nutritious meals for our child, she kept the house tidy, she was always punctual and flexible. In fact we were so happy with her she came along to some holidays to help us with childcare and just be a part of the family. Unfortunately she had to move away from the city we live in and we were very sad to see her go. We know any family that gets Valentina as their nanny will be very lucky! Sarah & Jeremy

Before starting your search, take a little time to figure out what your needs are. Full-time support? Part-time care? On-call help? Make a wish list of necessary and preferred characteristics so you can apply the right filters to our web tool.

We’ll provide you with a list of available sitters. Then you can personally screen and vet promising candidates by asking for references and organizing an official interview. If you find a babysitter that meets your requirements, set up a trial period on Sitly to get in touch with them directly.

First things first – message the prospective babysitter or nanny about any past childcare experience they may have, and ask about references from prior families. Then you can check in with the other parents to see what their impression was of the sitter.

There is no standard hourly rate for childcare services. Rather, each nanny or babysitter’s rate is determined by several factors – including their age and level of experience, the number of kids who need looking after, and how far they need to travel for the job.

In order to come up with an appropriate rate, you should first take into account the minimum wage for your area. Then, you might consider offering a higher rate of pay to keep things fair if you’re asking for any help with things like tutoring or chores around the house - or if you know your kids can be a handful for even the most patient of sitters!
